Biography
Wolfchild
- Real Rock is still alive! The story of this Finnish hard rock
band began in 2002 when Marko Purosto, Jaska Koivusilta and Tom
Nousiainen were looking for a new singer. Purosto, Koivusilta
and Nousiainen had been playing together for years, but with the
addition of a new vocalist / guitar player Kim Högberg (ex-Helion,
Bulldozer, etc.) the band finally crystallized their style of
classic 70-80's hard rock.
With the band's
line-up finally right, Wolfchild started to work on their first
offering, Tales Of The Urban Decadence. The EP got great reviews,
and a number of gigs followed - from festivals to smoky bars all
over Finland, including an opening gig for Paul Di'Anno &
The Killers.
In 2004 the
band started to work on their second release called Toxic. The
recording started in November 2004 at Rockstar studios with producer
Lari Takala. The CD was mastered in March 2005 at Sound Supreme
by Janne Saksa. Toxic got great reviews around the world and gained
great interest in many record companies in Finland and in the
USA.
Motivated
by the good response for Toxic, Wolfchild decided that it was
time for a full-length album. In October 2005 the band started
recording their self-financed debut album with producer Lari Takala
once again behind the mixing desk. After a few months the album
was ready, and in March 2006 it was mastered at Sound Supreme
studios. Shortly after the album was ready, Wolfchild made a deal
with an American label Perris Records for releasing their self-titled
debut album in 17 countries. The album was released in August
2006. Track from the album "One Woman" is also featured
on a Perris compilation "Hollywood Hairspray Vol. 6".
Wolfchild
entered 2007 with a fresh start as they started looking for a
new singer after Kim and the band decided to go their separate
ways. A new vocalist Mika Siitonen was quickly found, and the
band continued playing gigs and started writing new material with their new singer. They also got a temporary second guitarist, Antti Röksä, for touring duties.
On April 3rd 2007 tragedy struck the band, when Jaska Koivusilta passed away. The death of the bass player and founding member left the rest of the group uncertain whether there was future for Wolfchild. However, after the funeral the band announced that they would continue. A new bass player was found when Rude, an old friend of the band, was keen to continue the work of his late friend.
The first gig with the new line-up was played in August 2007. Currently the band is getting back into gigging and training hard. Also many new tracks have been written for the second Wolfchild album. Real Rock is still alive! |
